Antonia’s passion for the behavioral health field started when she took her first psychology course at Phoenix Community College. Antonia continued her education where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2012.
After graduating, Antonia began her career in behavioral health field at a behavioral health residential facility, where she assisted the residents in learning independent living skills and activities of daily living, as well as running psycho-educational group and individual counseling.
After leaving the residential facility, Antonia went on to work as a case manager for individuals diagnosed with a serious mental illness (SMI). While working with SMI on the substance abuse team, Antonia gained experience of co-occurring disorders and the behaviors are interconnected.
Antonia feels that it is important to assist others in learning how to accept themselves and to never stop moving forward. Antonia feels that it is beneficial to approach others in a non-judgmental way and to assist others in feeling at ease when they are experiencing a crisis.
During her spare time, Antonia spends time with her loved ones, plays video games, reads books, models, and engages in various forms of self-care.“One small crack does not mean that you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn’t fall apart.” –Linda Poindexter
